Lagosians in Trouble! Please help!!!

I am particularly disgruntled with the state of security in the commercial nerve centre of the federation, Lagos State. Nothing could be further from the truth as it is glaringly conspicuous that the average Lagosian cannot, by any stretch of imagination, boast of his safety, whether he's at his residence or away from his abode.

You don't need any rocket scientist to see and acknowledge the fact that this debilitating challenge in the state has got the capacity to cripple commercial operations altogether. I mean, who wants to operate or invest in a volatile region, where bandits or criminal elements can attack you before you say Jack. It beats my imagination that the sitting government is aware of this debacle and is not ready to arrest the situation and nip it in the board before it escalates into utter break down of law and order, in humongous proportions.

I sympathize and empathize with the State Police if the unfolding of events from the #ENDSARS protest is anything to go by. But hey, this traumatic experience has been lived with and managed by the masses for decades now. It hasn't prevented us from going about our daily activities. We go out with our hearts in our mouths, not knowing what fate will befall us. Should the Police, who we expect to be stronghearted not brace up and be man enough to face their challenges, pick themselves back up, right their wrongs, and come back with a bang! They should be buoyed now to turn a new leaf and prove to well meaning Nigerians that they're professionals, can handle the security pros and cons of the state, and that they've got the backs of the masses.

It is becoming obvious that there's a disconnect between the Lagos State government and the Police. Where is the synergy? Why should the governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, be assuring Lagosians that everything is under control, when the obvious truth is that everything is not really under control? Where are we going in all of this? The yuletide is already upon us. Are we safe?

Watch out!
